In-Company Hybrid Training: the Lean Change Leader

Customer Experience: In-Company Lean Change Leader Training for Unilever

We organised an in-house Lean Change Leader Training for Unilever. The five-day training was delivered in two parts, the first 2 days as face-to-face training and the last 3 days remotely. The participants included both production unit management and operational and production personnel. The trainer was Marja Jaatinen.

We asked three participants (Julius Riikonen, Production Manager; Meri Heikkilä, Industrial Finance Lead and Jarkko Kramsu, Maintenance Manager) how they experienced the training.

Tell us about yourself?

Julius: "I'm a production manager at a food factory, I've been there for 3 years. My background is in production economics."

Sea: "I've been in the role of Industrial Finance Lead Nordic for the last four and a half years."

Jarkko: "I worked as a maintenance manager, my education is mechanical engineer in production economics."

Why did you choose the Lean Change Leader training?

Julius: "Lean tools have proven to be important in driving production development projects. In connection with the plant closure, we selected training topics together with the staff and Lean skills came up high in this discussion."

Sea: "The company offered various training opportunities."

Jarkko: "I wanted a tool to speed up / streamline the process in my future workplace."

What is your experience of training?

Julius: "The on-site days of training were very good. There was a lot of discussion in a diverse group. The distance days are a bit challenging when there are many people in the group who are not familiar with remote meeting methods - the discussion does not come up in the same way. I would recommend organisations training bluecollar specialists to opt for face-to-face training."

Sea: "Lots of new and good stuff and I look forward to seeing it put into practice."

Jarkko: "The training is a concise and comprehensive package for change management. The subject matter is well covered and the exercises give an idea of practical situations."

Would you recommend this training to others and why?

Julius: "The training topics are very good for production managers and those actively involved in projects. I would recommend to choose the classroom training if there are people in the group who are not used to remote tools. It's a pity we didn't do similar training when production was underway - it would probably have increased the organisation's knowledge and reduced resistance to change."
Meri: "I would recommend the training because the simulation game was really illustrative and informative."
Jarkko: "The Change Leader Training is a good overall package that gives you the tools to get through a practical project and tackle problems along the way."

Do you have any other comments?

Julius: "I like the style of the trainer, I find it engaging and firm so that people get involved."
Meri: "The online version was a bit challenging and it was hard to concentrate."
Jarkko: "Marja is a great trainer, her intonation is pleasant and clear. I recommend her. Likewise, her practical experience in change management opens up and sheds more light on the subject during the training."
