Content of the Training
In DFSS Black Belt Training, we focus on statistics, project management and change management activities, tools and techniques that are usually needed to carry out demanding development and research projects.
The training is divided into three four-day modules over approximately a six-month period. To make the most of the training, we recommend that participants have a development project during the course. Between modules, the intention is to immediately apply what has been learned in projects. Participants' own projects are also used in exercises and interventions during the training.
In the training, we cover e.g. the following topics:
- Basic concepts of DFSS, differences between DFSS and DMAIC
- DFSS Project Phases: Define, Asses, Develop, Validate, Launch, Sustain
- Gate reviews
- Lean Six Sigma leadership at DFSS
- Multi Generation Product Plan (MGPP)
- Voice of the Customer (VoC)
- Customer Needs Mapping (CNM)
- Critical to Quality (CTQ) Flowdown
- Quality Function Deployment (QFD), House of Quality (HoQ)
- Financial analysis and functional analysis
- Scorecards
- Project Charter
- Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA)
- Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
- Hypothesis Tests
- Design of Experiments (DOE's):
- Tolerance analysis
- Control charts
- Process capability
The training is very interactive and includes many concrete models, examples and simulations, as well as "Lessons Learned" examples from other organisations.
After the training, there is an opportunity to have the project work approved. Those who pass the requirements will receive DFSS Black Belt Certification.
Training material
Participants will be provided with training material structured according to the steps of the Design for Six Sigma Project: Necessary activities, methods, and tools are linked to the steps to facilitate the use of the material in their own project after the course.
During the training, the Minitab computer program is used. The program is also an essential tool in projects after training. The participant must have their own laptop with a Minitab program installed during the training. We are happy to help you if you need help with the program.
