Green Belt training content
In the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training, you will learn to understand the Lean Six Sigma philosophy and gain the skills to apply it effectively to process improvement projects. The training combines Lean and Six Sigma into a flexible approach that enables you to achieve fast and sustainable results. You will also learn important change management techniques ("soft skills"). The training also includes the possibility of Green Belt certification.
Our Green Belt training and certification meet/exceed the quality and content requirements set by the CSSC. We also comply with the contents of the international standards IASSC and ASQ BoK ("Body of Knowledge"), except for the rarest methods and tools. You can find out more about the content requirements of the standards at the link: Green Belt certificates and requirements.
At Green Belt level, the training covers e.g. the following topics:
When, why and how to use Lean Six Sigma
You will be introduced to the effective use of Lean and Six Sigma in different types of projects and organisations. You will also learn how to manage the project flow through the 12-step DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) process.
Define
In the Define phase, you select and define a Green Belt project using various tools such as Voice of the Customer (VOC), Critical to Quality (CTQ), Definition of Customer Requirements, CTQ tree, Project Agreement and Risk Matrix.
Measure
In the Measure phase, you operationalise the project objective and test the reliability of the measurements using methods such as: process description (SIPOC), operational measurement unit definition and measurement system analysis.
Analyze
In the Analyze phase, you measure process performance using methods such as: graphical analysis methods, process capability analyses, control charts, waste identification and root cause analysis to support process improvement through value stream mapping and hypothesis testing.
Improve
In the Improve phase, you will develop and test the optimal solution for root cause elimination using Lean solution methodologies and Six Sigma analysis methods, such as hypothesis testing for different situations and Lean tools such as Push/Pull, 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke and Kaizen. You will also learn methods for prioritising and validating solutions.
Control
In the Control phase, you ensure that the solutions developed are implemented on a permanent basis and that a culture of continuous improvement is created in the organisation. In this phase, we use methods such as standardised work instructions, critical performance indicators, visual work control, performance monitoring, Out of Control Action Plan (OCAP), Lean day-to-day management and data-driven management.
Change Management
Change management is an integral part of our training and is included in all DMAIC phases. You will learn how to: identify and prevent project risks using the Lean Six Sigma management model, the role of the Green Belt in the different stages of team formation, how to effectively use the roles of team members, stakeholder analysis, different levels of communication, managing resistance and giving constructive feedback, and facilitation during a DMAIC project.
The training is divided into four parts over a period of several months. To get the most out of the training, we recommend that you have your own improvement project during the course. In your project, you can immediately apply what you have learned in your own working environment. You can also choose your project after learning the lessons of the first part of the training. You can read our blog for tips on choosing a project: tips on choosing a project.
