What makes Lean Six Sigma training really good?

A unique training method in Finland, also available online

Jaatinen B.V. has revolutionized the way Lean Six Sigma training is taught by replacing the manual, production-focused simulations typically used with a more realistic digital, multi-player simulation.

Multi-part digital game simulation to support learning

We have put a lot of effort into developing our training courses so that the learning outcome meets the individual needs of the participants: engaging, interactive, quality materials, etc. One thing that stands out, however, is our unique multi-part digital game simulation. It is an effective way of learning in multi-day training, replacing traditional manual simulations with a more realistic digital multi-lingual simulation game (also in English).

"Del-Sim" (© PI-SIMS) is a multiplayer simulation of the delivery process of a company. Each participant has a role in the company and during the simulation a lot of waste occurs in the process. The simulation also collects real-time data.

During the simulation, participants will learn how to perform Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and how to use data in different stages of process improvement. Participants will learn how to analyse data, but also how to improve a process with little data and what to do when there is too much data.

The simulation is divided into several rounds. After each round, the situation is analysed on the basis of the VSM and the registered data. Improvements decided by the team can be implemented immediately. Between rounds, additional methods are learned and practiced in the simulation.

Participants will experience typical "real life" challenges in the simulation:

  • Lean and Six Sigma challenges: a lot of waste in the process; difficult to define a concrete goal; too much/too little data; how to choose the right data; how to draw a Value Stream Mapping; when and how to make improvements quickly with Lean; when to use Six Sigma and what techniques to use; how to improve in a controlled way, etc.
  • Change management: as the simulation progresses, participants will also learn about change management; how to stay on target; when to flex; how to get everyone on board; how to facilitate a Value Stream Mapping session, etc.

The trainer customizes the simulation during the training to suit each group based on the participants' pace and learning objectives.

The game simulation is played almost every training day. It's also a fun team exercise that lightens up the training. At the end of the training, the game simulation project is completed, providing participants with a good, hands-on example for future reference.

Customer testimonials

"In particular, I would like to highlight the multi-part simulation game used during the training, where we practiced Lean Six Sigma doctrines in teams right away. It gave me a first-hand, documented example of a process improvement project. The simulation was the best I have seen on the subject.", Mika Rantala

"A well-delivered training, where interest was maintained until the end and enthusiasm for implementing your own project grew during the training days. The distance learning worked well. Special thanks for the fun simulation! It helped to open up the world of Lean in a very concrete way ? " Päivi Toivala

"Good and comprehensive training. The simulation game was a very good concrete exercise. A lot of support and help for your own project." Alina Kakko

"Concrete steps clearly presented. The remote training worked well, dividing into smaller groups for tasks was effective, and the simulation was a good way to bring concreteness." Anne Koistinen
